    Effect of Essential Oils of Some Plants Used as Herb on the Growth of Agaricus bisporus (Lange) Sing

    Essential oils at the concentration of 5 ul, 15 ul and 25 \ûof Myrtus communis L., Laurus nobilis L., Echinophora tenuifolia L., Thymbra spicata L. and Satureja hortensis L., which grow wild in Turkey were prepared and investigated for growth of Agaricus bisporus in culture media. The results showed that 25 ul concentration of essential oils showed an inhibitory effect on mycelial growth. Other concentrations of oils partly inhibited the growth of A bisporus. The mycelial growth of all samples treated had slow and different according to control group. It was observed a slow growth in sample with thyme (black), while myrtle and thyme (savory) oils exhibited fungisit effect against A. bisporus, others had fungistatic effect. © 2008 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

    Lenzitopsis oxycedri Malençon & Bertault (Thelephoraceae, Basidiomycota), a very rare wood-decay fungus collected in Turkey

    Lenzitopsis oxycedri Malençon & Bertault was collected on a living branch of Juniperus foetidissima Willd. from Thermessos national park, Antalya, situated in the southern Mediterranean part of Turkey. This very rare species belongs to a monotypic genus of Thelephoraceae and was previously only known from Morocco, Spain, and Italy. This fungus causes white rot in juniper wood. © TÜBİTAK.

    Macrofungi and Their Distribution in Karaman Province, Turkey

    Herein, macrofungi specimens that were collected from different locations in Karaman province. Turkey between 1999 and 2001 are reported. As a result of field and laboratory studies, 202 taxa belonging to 2 classes and 41 families were identified. Of them, 11 taxa belonged to Ascomycetes and 191 to Basidiomycetes. The most common families were Tricholomataceae, with 36 species; Bolbitiaceae, with 16 species; Agaricaceae and Cortinariaceae, with 15 species each; Coprinaceae, with 13 species; and Hymenochaetaceae, with 12 species.

    Macrofungi of Yahyali (Kayseri) Province [Yahyali (Kayseri) Yöresinin makrofunguslari]

    Some macrofungi specimens were collected from Yahyali (Kayseri) province in 2000-2001. As a result of field and laboratory studies, 94 taxa belonging to 28 families were identified. Nine species belong to Ascomycotina and 85 to Basidiomycotina. The distribution, habitat and collecting numbers of the identified species are given.

    Myxomycetes of Kestel Forest (Kadinhani, Konya)

    The samples of Myxomycetes recorded in this study were collected from Kestel forest (Kad?nhan?, Konya) in 2003 and 2004. As a result of field and laboratory studies, 7 families, and 32 taxa belonging to 11 genera were determined. Eight of these were collected in their natural habitat while 24 were isolated in moist chamber cultur. © TÜBİTAK.

    New records for the macrofungi of Turkey

    Several macrofungi specimens were collected during field studies in Kayseri province. After field and laboratory studies, 6 species belonging to 6 families were identified as new records for Turkey. These species are Clitocyte catinus (Fr.) Quél., Conocybe appendiculata J.E.Lange & Kühner, Coprinus macrocephalus (Berk) Berk., Guepinia helvelloides (DC.) Fr., Psathyrella leucotephra (Berk. & Broome) P.D. Orton, and Russula olivaceoviolascens Gillet. © TÜBİTAK.
