Öğe A Familial Case of Piebaldism(WOLTERS KLUWER MEDKNOW PUBLICATIONS, 2015) Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Ataseven, Arzu[Abstract not Available]Öğe The frequency of metabolic syndrome in patients with acrochordons(IBN SINA TRUST, 2017) Kurtipek, G. Saylam; Duran, Cevdet; Kutlu, Orkide; Ataseven, Arzu; Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Kurku, Hüseyin; Elmas, HalisObjective: To investigate the frequency of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in patients with acrochordons. Materials and Methods: 102 patients with acrochordons and 76 controls were enrolled into the study. The presence of MetS was evaluated under the criteria NCEP-ATP III. Results and Discussion: Waist circumference (p<0.001), body mass index (p<0.001), systolic (p=0.014) and diastolic blood pressure (p<0.001), insulin (p<0.001) and triglyceride (TG) levels (p<0.001) were higher in the group with acrochordons. The presence of MetS was found as 71.6% in patients with acrochordon and 40.8% in controls (p<0.001). Conclusions: Patients with acrochordons should be evaluated in terms of the presence of MetS and its components.Öğe Frequency of metabolic syndrome in patients with knuckle pads(WILEY-BLACKWELL, 2015) Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Kutlu, Orkide; Duran, Cevdet; Kurku, Hüseyin; Ataseven, Arzu; Akyürek, Fatma TunçezKnuckle pads are hyperkeratotic, benign skin lesions that we commonly observe in obese patients. There is no study that investigates the association between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and knuckle pads. We aimed to investigate the frequency of MetS in patients with knuckle pads. Forty-seven patients with knuckle pads and 46 age-and sex-matched controls were enrolled. The presence of MetS was evaluated according to National Cholesterol Education Program-Adult Treatment Panel III criteria. In the patient group, waist circumference (P < 0.01), body mass index (BMI; P < 0.01), and systolic (P < 0.01) and diastolic blood pressure (P < 0.01) were higher than controls, and most of the patients had a history of hypertension (P < 0.01). The presence of MetS was found in 66% of the patients with knuckle pads and in 52.2% of the controls (P = 0.25). In the patient group, compared with controls, more patients had blood pressure above reference values or were on antihypertensive therapy (70.2% and 43.5%, P = 0.017, respectively), and had greater waist circumference value (93.6% and 76.1%, P = 0.038, respectively). The presence of the other three criteria were similar in both groups. Although we found similar MetS frequency in both groups, patients with knuckle pads should be examined for the presence of MetS components, especially abdominal obesity and hypertension.Öğe Hypomelanosis of Ito: A Case Report(GALENOS YAYINCILIK, 2016) Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Ataseven, Arzu; Toy, Hatice; Uzun, Meltem[Abstract not Available]Öğe İnfantil Akut Hemorajik Ödem: İki Yılda Dört Atak(2015) Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Ataseven, Arzu; Kocaoglu, Çelebi; Küçükosmanoğlu, İlknurİnfantil akut hemorajik ödem (İAHÖ), ani başlangıç ve ekimotik purpura ile karakterize hedef ve rozet şeklinde inflamatuar ödemle seyreden benign bir hastalıktır. Literatürde relaps çok nadir olarak bildirilmiştir, biz bu vakayı hastanın 2 yaşının üzerine olması ve toplamda 4 atak geçirmesi üzerine seçtik.Öğe İto Hipomelanozu: Olgu Sunumu(2016) Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Ataseven, Arzu; Toy, Hatice; Uzun, Meltem[Abstract not Available]Öğe Jessner's lymphocytic Infiltration(DERMAN MEDICAL PUBL, 2015) Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Ataseven, Arzu; Küçükosmanoğlu, İlknur; Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Özer, İlkayJessner's lymphocytic infiltration of the skin is a chronic, benign T-cell infiltrative disorder, usually manifesting as erythematous papules or plaques on the face, neck and back. Here we report the case of a 52-year-old man, who presented erythematous infiltrated plaques on the back. Skin biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of Jessner's lymphocytic infiltration of the skin.Öğe Knowledge, Beliefs and Attitudes of Patients with Verruca Vulgaris About the Disease(GALENOS YAYINCILIK, 2015) Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Cihan, Fatma Gökşin; Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Ataseven, Arzu; Sarıoğlu, Ayşe; Akman, ZahideObjective: The purpose of this study was to learn the opinions of the patients with non-genital verruca vulgaris about the cause, course and treatment of verruca and their sources of information. Methods: A total of 187 non-genital verruca patients over 15 years old were included in the study. Their ideas about the cause, ways of transmission and treatment, and the sources they referred for information about the disease were recorded. Results: Of the participants, 44.4% thought it was contagious, 3.2% thought it was genetically inherited and 11.8% thought that is was not a disease. Seventy six of the patients (40.6%) had no idea about the subject. When the causes of verruca was questioned, 88 patients (47.1%) replied that it is a virus, 12 patients (6.4%) thought that it was transmitted by frogs, 4 patients (2.1%) thought that it was transmitted by turtles and 83 patients (44.4%) thought that it was transmitted by other reasons. Forty five of the patients (24.1%) tried conventional treatment methods previously. Of them, 16 (35.5%) had the verruca prayed, 7 (15.5%) applied fig sap, 6 (13.4%) applied vaseline/toothpaste, 6 (13.4%) applied acid on it, 4 (8.9%) tied it with a string, 4 (8.9%) used keratoma tape, and 2 (4.4%) cut it. Conclusion: It was determined that such a common dermatological disease is not recognized and the treatment methods are not known enough.Öğe Plasma-soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) levels in Behcet's disease and correlation with disease activity(WILEY, 2018) Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Kesli, Recep; Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Akyürek, Fikret; Ataseven, Arzu; Terzi, YükselBackgroundSoluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR), a new biomarker, is a soluble form of membrane-bound receptors secreted from different immune cells. The aim of the present study is to determine plasma suPAR levels in Behcet's disease and their correlation with disease activity. MethodsThirty Behcet's disease patients determined according to the International Study Group criteria for Behcet's disease diagnosis and 41 healthy subjects were included in the present study. Micro-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was employed to obtain quantitative data. Data of both groups were statistically analyzed. ResultsThe comparison of C-reactive protein and suPAR plasma levels of the control and Behcet's disease group revealed statistically significant differences (respectively, P = 0.003 < 0.05 and P = 0.020 < 0.05). However, plasma suPAR levels related with disease activity revealed no statistically significant differences (P > 0.05). ConclusionThe present study is the first study analyzing suPAR levels in Behcet's disease patients and their correlation with disease activity. However, further prospective studies with larger patient series using suPAR as a new plasma biomarker are required to diagnose and monitor Behcet's disease and to support the findings of the present study.Öğe Skalp Yerleşimli Plexiform Nörofibromatozis: Olgu Sunumu(2015) Saylam, Gülcan Kurtipek; Ataseven, Arzu; Tunçez, Fatma Akyürek; Güngör, ÖzlemEpikranial nörofibromatosis, nörofibromatosisli hastalarda nadir olarak teşhis edilirler. Saylam; Akyürek, Fatma Tunçez; Ataseven, Arzu[Abstract not Available]Öğe Zosteriform psoriasis vulgaris: An unusual koebner phenomenon(AVES PRESS LTD, 2015) Kurtipek, Gülcan Saylam; Ataseven, Arzu; Küçükosmanoğlu, İlknur; Akyürek, Fatma TunçezPsoriasis vulgaris is an inflammatory papulosquamous and koebner positive disease of the skin. The isotopic (koebner) response, a result of secondary dermatitis, is unrelated with former recovery of dermatitis. Although first reported by Wolf et. al (1) with a series of 58 patients, koebnerization resulting from Herpes Zoster infection is extremely rare in the current literature. A 74-year-old female patient with a 7-day history of multiple papular eruptions on C5 dermatome was admitted to our clinic. Psoriatic lesions were observed on the same dermatome two weeks later. The clinical as well as histopathological confirmed psoriasis diagnosis.
