But, researchers are looking for selections of renewable electricity generation as it is a technological problem. This problem is a multi-criteria decision making problem. One of the solution methods for this problem is a combination of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the grey relational analysis (GRA). Hierarchical GRA method is based on grey system theory. In this study, a new approach to the selection of renewable electricity generation is prepared using multi-criteria decision making method. The hierarchical GRA frame work uses three criteria and sub-criteria from which it possible to evaluate to different renewable electricity generation technologies. This application is a novel approach for the selection of renewable electricity generation technologies.Öğe AN INTEGRATED FUZZY AHP AND TOPSIS TECHNIQUE TO EVALUATE THE JOBS IN A FURNITURE COMPANY(WORLD SCIENTIFIC PUBL CO PTE LTD, 2016) Caniyilmaz, Erdal; Alkan, Arzu; Baysal, Mehmet Emin; Sarucan, AhmetThis paper presents an integrated fuzzy method for the evaluation of jobs in a furniture company in Turkey. On account of having both monetary and harmful effects on the environment, the energy produced by fossil fuels needs to be determined how complex its sources, location and type will be. Because sustainability of such investments may reveal some problems when considered it is thought about current technological advances. The usage of integrated multi-objective decision making approaches is much more appropriate to overcome such problems. The seven energy sources in Turkey are considered in accordance with existing statistics and 2023 projections. The deviations from goals has been measured by an integer fuzzy weighted goal programming model.Öğe Priority ranking for energy resources in Turkey and investment planning for renewable energy resources(SPRINGER HEIDELBERG, 2018) Baysal, Mehmet Emin; Cetin, Nazli CerenEnergy has been an essential factor in determining the governments' policies. The countries had to produce their own energy to decrease dependency on external resources. That also provided to gain a great importance on investment on power plants. In this study, a multi-objective Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model synchronously optimizing five targets determined as decreasing carbon dioxide (CO2) emission, increasing power consumption, increasing power plants, increasing energy generation and installed capacity was used. In described model, it was solved by considering renewable power plants in Turkey and fossil fuel-based power plants having most share in Turkey. By trying to minimize deviation values of Turkey's 2023 targets, it aimed to determine which power plants need to be increased. To determine the priorities of these targets, Ranking Approach for fuzzy numbers by Liou andWang (1992) was used. Besides, Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to prioritize investment planning of renewable power plants in Turkey and five different kinds of power plants under the visual pollution criteria based on amount of CO2 emission released, environmental damage, capital costs, space requirement and provided employment were evaluated.Öğe A RANKING METHODOLOGY USING HIERARCHICAL GREY RELATIONAL ANALYSIS: THE CASE OF TURKISH BANKING SYSTEM(WORLD SCIENTIFIC PUBL CO PTE LTD, 2012) Baysal, Mehmet Emin; Aksu, BüşraFinancial indicators which have been monitoring and announcing to public periodically are indispensable tools particularly in the banking sector. Job shop scheduling is known as a strongly NP-complete problem. In the job shop scheduling problems, processing times and due dates are very dynamically due to both human and machine resource factors. Fuzzy sets are used to model the uncertain processing times and due dates in recent years. In this study, a fuzzy job shop scheduling problem with availability constraints is considered. A Scatter Search (SS) method is proposed to solve these problems. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scatter search method is demonstrated by comparing it with the hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA).Öğe The Selection of Renewable Energy Power Plant Technology Using Fuzzy Data Envelopment Analysis(INT ASSOC ENGINEERS-IAENG, 2011) Baysal, Mehmet Emin; Sarucan, Ahmet; Kahraman, Cengiz; Engin, OrhanThe efficiency of resource utilization and sustainabfiity are rising values all over the world. Power generation technologies have an important weight in this manner for a sustainable future. Particularly, renewable energy power technologies should take over the non-renewable power generation technologies when considered on environmental issues. However it is too far to substitute renewable onto non-renewable as for now. At this point, there is another issue for choosing the best yet suitable alternative technology. The selection problem is a difficult multi-criteria decision making problem in many fields as well as in the selection of power generation technology. This paper proposed a data envelopment analysis model approach by using triangular fuzzy numbers (TFN) as the solution. Six different technologies were used as the decision making units (DMU). Inputs and outputs variables were selected in general indicators such as economical and technical. It was showed that policy and decision makers could follow this methodology to produce effective solution for energy generation problems.Öğe Solution to a pipeline scheduling problem by using a mixed integer linear programming model(Selçuk Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi, 2016) Baysal, Mehmet Emin; Uçaktürk, EsraPipelines are efficient ways of conveying huge amounts of refined petroleum products to distant points. Different products are pumped successively, in the pipelines without a need of a separator between them. Pipelines should be chosen very carefully based on the pumping sequences, volumes to be conveyed, covering the constraints involved by cutting operational costs and focusing on market demands. The real life problem considered in this study consists of a unidirectional pipe distribution system used for pumping petroleum products between the sources and distribution centers. Problem was stated as a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model and solved by using GAMS software thorough actual data. As a result of the study, an optimal pumping schedule for pipeline operations at a certain period of time is achievedÖğe Solving Fuzzy Job Shop Scheduling Problems with Availability Constraints Using a Scatter Search Method(OLD CITY PUBLISHING INC, 2013) Engin, Orhan; Yılmaz, Mustafa Kerim; Baysal, Mehmet Emin; Sarucan, AhmetIn the last decade job shop scheduling problems have been subject to intensive research due to their multiple applications. Job shop scheduling is known as a strongly NP-complete problem. In the job shop scheduling problems, processing times and due dates are very dynamic due to both human and machine resource factors. Fuzzy sets have been used to model the uncertain processing times and due dates in recent years. In this study, a fuzzy job shop s cheduling problem with availability constraints is considered. Availability constraints mean that machines can be unavailable for preventive maintenance, periodic repair or random breakdown. These constraints have been considered in this study for fuzzy job shop scheduling problems. A Scatter Search (SS) method is proposed to solve these problems. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scatter search method is demonstrated by comparing it with the hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA). The aim of the study is to minimize the tardiness and earliness.Öğe A Total Productive Maintenance Implementation in a Manufacturing Company Operating in Insulation Sector in Turkey(IEEE, 2015) Baysal, Mehmet Emin; Sumbul, Mehmet Onur; Ekicioglu, ErdemIn this study, to calculate Overall Resource Effectiveness (ORE), planned downtime, facility downtime, setup and adjustments, material shortages, manpower absence, operator performance losses are found out after observing 4 expanded polystyrene (EPS) machines for 23 days, in 3 shifts a day. However, project selection and prioritization by municipalities are highly complex processes. Therefore, multicriteria decision making (MCDM) methodologies are very suitable for determining the best alternative. Recently, some studies have concentrated on the selection of the best project alternatives. In this paper, a two phased fuzzy MCDM methodology is proposed for the selection among municipal projects. In the first phase, fuzzy TOPSIS method is used to select the main project group and then fuzzy AHP is used to select the best sub-municipal project. The application of the suggested methodology has been made at the central district municipality in Konya, Turkey.
