Construction of an Amperometric Cholesterol Biosensor Based on DTP(aryl)aniline Conducting Polymer Bound Cholesterol Oxidase
(WILEY-V C H VERLAG GMBH, 2018) Cevik, Emre; Cerit, Alaaddin; Gazel, Nilay; Yildiz, Huseyin Bekir
In this study, an amperometric cholesterol biosensor was constructed based on cholesterol oxidase immobilized on a conducting 4-(4H-dithienol[3,2-b:2,3-d]pyrrole-4)aniline polymer, (DTP(aryl)aniline). Glassy carbon electrodes were covered with P(DTP(aryl)aniline) which is used for the wiring of enzyme to the electrode surface by using electro-polymerization. The electron transfer was successfully made by the bio-catalytic activity and possession of the unique morphology of the polymer allowed efficient immobilization of the cholesterol oxidase enzyme. Analytical performances; linear range, detection limit, limit of quantification and the Michaelis-Menten constant (K-m) of biosensor electrodes were obtained 2.0M-23.7M, 0.27M, 0.82M, 17,81M respectively. Biosensor optimization parameters: optimum pH, optimum temperature, stability test and response time were evaluated. The real sample and recovery studies were also performed in order to show applicability of the biosensing electrodes.

Effect of Modification with Various Epoxide Compounds on Mechanical, Thermal, and Coating Properties of Epoxy Resin
(HINDAWI LTD, 2016) Cerit, Alaaddin; Marti, Mustafa Esen; Soydal, Ulku; Kocaman, Suheyla; Ahmetli, Gulnare
Epoxy resin (ER) was modified with four different epoxide compounds, 4,5-epoxy-4-methyl-pentane-2-on (EMP), 3-phenyl-1,2-epoxypropane (PhEP), 1-chloro-2,3-epoxy-5-(chloromethyl)-5-hexene (CEH), and a fatty acid glycidyl ester (FAGE), to improve its chemical and physical properties. The effects of the addition and amount of these modifiers on mechanical, thermal, and coating properties were investigated. Atomic force microscopy was used to observe the changes obtained with the modification. The influence of the modifying agents on the curing process was monitored through FTIR spectroscopy. The curing degrees of ER and modified ERs (M-ERs) were found to be over 91%. The results showed that tensile strength of ER improved till 30% (wt.) with addition of the modifier content. Modification with EMP and PhEP remarkably enhanced the thermal stability of ER to be highly resistant to the corrosive media.

Effect of Unsaturated Keto-Groups on Physico-Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Modified Polystyrene
(WILEY-BLACKWELL, 2011) Cerit, Alaaddin; Ahmetli, Gulnare; Kurbanli, Refika
Polystyrene (PS), after polyolefins, is the most widespread polymer both in industry and daily life, successfully replacing some natural raw materials. In this study, as a serial of our previous study, modified polystyrene containing acetyl group (CH3CO-) was used as a raw material and condensation reaction was performed in basic medium with aliphatic saturated and unsaturated aldehydes. The structures of modified polystyrenes with unsaturated keto-groups were investigated by chemical and spectral (FTIR vs. H-1 NMR) analyses. The effect of the functional groups bound to the structure of the polymer on physicomechanical and thermal properties of modified polystyrene was investigated. As a result, condensation products of modified polystyrenes with crotonaldehyde and cinnamaldehyde had higher physicomechanical properties and were more stable against the thermal destruction at high temperatures. Effects of functional groups on the thermal properties of modified polystyrene
(JOHN WILEY & SONS INC, 2007) Ahmetli, Gulnare; Cerit, Alaaddin
Polystyrene is, after polyolefins, the most widespread polymer in both industry and everyday life, successfully replacing some raw natural materials. In this study, the chemical modification of polystyrenes of different molecular weights was performed with various functional group modifiers (epichlorohydrin, maleic anhydride, and acetic anhydride) in one stage and in the medium of the cationic catalyst BF3.O(C2H5)(2) according to previous studies. The concentration of the functional groups bonded to the aromatic ring of the polymer as a result of the chemical modification of polystyrenes of different molecular weights depended on the molecular weight of the polymer, and more functional groups were bonded to lower molecular weight polystyrene. The effects of the functional groups bonded to the structure of the polymer on the thermal properties of modified polystyrene were investigated. The polystyrene that was modified by maleic anhydride was more stable against thermal destruction at high temperatures. (c) 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Synthesis and characterization of UV-crosslinkable unsaturated ketone group containing polystyrene films
(ELSEVIER SCIENCE SA, 2013) Ahmetli, Gulnare; Cerit, Alaaddin; Kocaman, Suheyla
In this study, as a serial of our previous studies, polystyrene (PS) containing acetyl group (CH3CO-) was used as a raw material and condensation reaction was performed in basic medium with aliphatic saturated and unsaturated aldehydes. Synthesized modified polystyrenes (MPSs) were characterized using spectroscopic (H-1 NMR and IR) and chemical analysis methods. Atomic force microscopy (AFM), has been used to determine the microstructure of PS, APS and MPS with crotonaldehyde, as example. The thermal properties of polymers were investigated after crosslinking by ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. The crosslinking of MPSs was quantitatively estimated from the amount of insoluble polymer as well as the change in the glass transition temperature. As a result, MPSs with crotonaldehyde and cinnamaldehyde had higher thermal properties and crosslinking than others due to two double bonds in their structure. MPSs films were resistant to corrosive mediums. After irradiation, water sorption of MPS decreased 0.65%. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Vinilketon gruplu modifiye polistirenlerin sentezi ve ışınlamanın fiziko-mekanik özelliklerine etkisi
(Selçuk Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2012-03-02) Cerit, Alaaddin; Ahmetli, Gülnare
Bu çalışmada sanayi üretimi olan ortalama 230.000 molekül kütleli polistirenlerin asetik anhidritle katyonik katalizör ortamında kimyasal modifikasyonu gerçekleştirildi ve elde edilen asetil polistirenlerin doymuş ve doymamış aldehitlerle (asetaldehit, propiyonaldehit, krotonaldehit, benzaldehit, 2-furaldehit, sinnamaldehit, sikloheksenkarboksaldehit, akrolein) bazik ortamda kondenzasyonu araştırıldı, polimerin aromatik halkasına çeşitli yapılara sahip doymamış keton gruplar bağlandı, fiziko-mekanik ve ışığa duyarlılık özellikleri incelendi ve kullanım alanı belirlendi. Polimerin yapısına bağlanan ve ışıktan etkilenme özelliği kazandıran çeşitli doymamış keton grupların, ilerde ışınlamaya karşı duyarlı polimerler sentezinde ve kullanım alanlarının belirlenmesinde önemli katkısı olacağı düşünülmektedir.
