    ANALYSING THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP LEVELS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN TERMS OF CERTAIN VARIABLES

    The concept of entrepreneurship is defined as the process of planning, organizing, opportunities and assuming. It may be distinguished as ability to take risk independently to make utmost earnings in the market. It is a creative and innovative skill and adapting response to environment. The aim of this study is to determine the entrepreneurship levels of teacher candidates. Also, the relationships between entrepreneurship levels and certain variables (genders, departments and internet usage frequencies) were analyzed. For this purpose a survey was conducted on the students at the Selcuk University Faculty of Education during the Spring Term in 2010-2011 academic years. The entrepreneurship scale was used in the survey. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t test and One-Way Anova as analyzing statistics were carried out, and the significance level was accepted as .05. Finally, the male students have a higher entrepreneur than the female students at the teacher candidates, and also the internet usage frequencies have a significant factor in terms of entrepreneurship levels of students. However, the departments of students are not an important variable for entrepreneurship levels.

    Analyzing the effects of use of facebook for educational purpose on academic success of the preservice teachers from their perspectives

    Facebook, as a phenomenon of the internet world in our days and a kind of social networking site (SNS) takes place among the web 2.0 technologies which has been used most commonly by users and on which those spend time most. The aim of this research, in which an education session has been performed in a facebook setting, is to explore the use of facebook for education purpose in a multidirectional way. This research which was formed as mixed method has been performed with the university students who are taking the elective course, named as "Science History." While 27 students have used the facebook environment on the purpose of education (facelearning), other 27 students haven't used the facebook environment. It is concluded that the students who interacted on facebook were more successful when their academic achievements were compared with other students at the end of education. It is also seen that students who took facebook education shared all the topics included in the course and different types of knowledge and also made comments on the shared materials. Students stated that use of facebook with education purposes has some advantages.

    The development, validity and reliability of TPACK-deep: A technological pedagogical content knowledge scale

    The purpose of this study is to develop a TPACK (technological pedagogical content knowledge) scale based on the centered component of TPACK framework in order to measure preservice teachers' TPACK. A systematic and step-by-step approach was followed for the development of the scale. The validity and reliability studies of the scale were carried out with 995 Turkish preservice teachers. The sample was split into two subsamples on random basis (n1 = 498, n2 = 497). The first sample was used for Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the second sample for Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). After the EFA, the TPACK-deep scale included 33 items and had four factors. These factors were design, exertion, ethics and proficiency. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the whole scale was found to be .95, whereas the values of Cronbach's alpha coefficient for individual factors of the scale ranged between .85 and .92. The CFA was conducted within the scope of the validity study of the scale. In this way, this structure of the 4-factor scale was confirmed. In addition, the test-retest reliability coefficient of the scale was calculated as .80. The findings revealed that the TPACK-deep scale was a valid and reliable instrument for measuring TPACK. Consequently, various suggestions were put forward regarding the use the TPACK-deep scale for applied research and for future studies. Crown Copyright (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.     A Proposal for an Online Graduate Degree Program in Computer Education and Instructional Technologies (CEIT) in Turkey

    This study proposed that there needed to be an online platform for the graduate level studies in Computer Education and Instructional Technologies. The proposed platform was named BOTE-UYUM, or CEIT National MA Initiative Research (CEIT-NMAIR). The platform was suggested to share the expertise of a mega-university, Anadolu University in this case, in the field of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies (CEIT) to offer graduate courses online along with face to face assistance on a regular basis. Generating the platform to empower and diffuse an MA program in CEIT was found significant for the future ICT integration endeavors of the country. Researchers intended to create an on-line learning system, which should be feasible to deliver MA courses. Within the scope of the proposal, a synergy at masters' degree level at CEIT departments in Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus would be created. Before creating the online learning system, it was planned to refer to the opinions of the shareholders, that is, principal participants of the proposed program including academicians, teachers and prospective teachers to form a national point of view. The project should proceed with the creation and evaluation of the online learning system.

    Social networking users' views on technology and the determination of technostress levels

    Despite being used frequently due to the benefits brought to daily life, the use of technology also brings with it certain disadvantages. One of these disadvantages, stress, is referred to as technostress. This study analyzes the technostress levels of social networking website users through different variables. Social networking website users were chosen under the assumption that they utilize technology more frequently and closely follow technological developments. Data was gathered by an online questionnaire, with 765 participants. The study concluded that social networking website users have a medium level of technostress, mainly caused by environmental reasons as opposed to social reasons. Also, it was found that age and familial monthly income causes differentiation in technostress levels.
