    Change and Continuity in Traditional Environments: Case of Güzelyurt (Gelveri-Kalvari) - Turkey

    The relations between culture and living styles have important roles on the composition of the space which reflect the traditional settlement's characteristics. Guzelyurt (Gelveri-Kalvari) has the unique traditional residential pattern protected up to now in which the characteristic properties of the spatial structure have been formed by the cultural structure and the living styles. This study aims to define the impacts of the socio-cultural characteristics of the traditional residential area and to evaluate them in terms of continuity when it was faced with new culture and life style. In this context spatial, functional, morphologic, contextual and visual features of the traditional environment were analyzed in order to evaluate the physical environment and socio-cultural qualities.

    Improvement Quality of Life for an Anatolian Traditional Settlement: Konya-Sille Case

    The urban open-green areas are fundamental elements, indicators of quality of life, and they play important roles in cities. When they get organized in systems, this value is potentiated and incremented, contributing more efficiently to the quality of life. This study aims to improvement of the quality of life in Sille. The spatial changes which have started in Sille in recent years are intended to be in line with the needs, and demands of the local community and spatial standards. For that purpose; the findings of the survey which was applied in an attempt to determine the life quality in Sille were assessed and accordingly suggestions that would spatially increase the life quality were included.     Sille (Konya) yerleşiminin sürdürülebilirliği için ekolojik tasarım önerileri

    Sürdürülebilir kentsel gelişimin gerçekleşmesi, planlama süreçlerinin ekolojik temele oturtulmasını ve doğayla uyumlu bir yaşam için ekoloji-ekonomi-enerji ilişkisini güçlendiren bir tasarım yaklaşımını gerektirmektedir. Bu çalışmada; geleneksel Sille yerleşiminin sürdürülebilirliği hedeflenmiş ve bunun için tasarımda Sille’nin ekolojik özellikleri ile yerleşim, ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel özellikleri temel alınmıştır. Planlama-tasarım bütünlüğünü sağlayabilmek amacıyla tasarıma temel oluşturacak ekolojik ilkeler belirlenmiştir. Bu ekolojik ilkeler doğrultusunda tasarım önerileri geliştirilmiştir.
