Öğe Assessing monthly average solar radiation models: a comparative case study in Turkey(SPRINGER, 2011) Sonmete, Mehmet H.; Ertekin, Can; Menges, Hakan O.; Haciseferogullari, Haydar; Evrendilek, FatihSolar radiation data are required by solar engineers, architects, agriculturists, and hydrologists for many applications such as solar heating, cooking, drying, and interior illumination of buildings. In order to achieve this, numerous empirical models have been developed all over the world to predict solar radiation. The main objective of this study is to examine and compare 147 solar radiation models available in the literature for the prediction of monthly solar radiation at Ankara (Turkey) based on selected statistical measures such as percentage error, mean percentage error, root mean square error, mean bias error, and correlation coefficient. Our results showed that Ball et al. (Agron J 96:391-397, 2004) model and Chen et al. (Energy Convers Manag 47:2859-2866, 2006) model performed best in the estimation of solar radiation on a horizontal surface for Ankara.Öğe Determination of Some Chemical and Physical Properties of Sakiz Faba Bean (Vicia Faba L. Var. Major)(ELSEVIER SCI LTD, 2003) Haciseferogullari, Haydar; Gezer, I; Bahtlyarca, Y; Menges, Hasan OktayIn this study, some chemical and physical properties of faba bean (Vicia faba L. Var. major) grown up in Antalya region have been determined. Chemical properties such as dry matter, total energy, crude protein, crude cellulose, crude oil, mineral elements-Ca, P, K, Na, S, Al, Ba-and physical properties such as dimensions, weight, thickness, geometric mean diameter, sphericity, bulk density, volume, porosity, projected area, 1000 grain mass, terminal velocity and the rupture strength of grains involved in the study. The total energy, crude protein, crude cellulose and crude oil contents (as percentage in dry matter) of faba bean are found as 18.87 MJ/kg, 29.63%, 6.39% and 1.06% respectively, and all elements determined in the research are listed in the text. The values of length, width, thickness, weight, geometric mean diameter and sphericity of faba bean are determined as 20.39, 14.54, 7.86 mm, 1.31 g, 13.25 mm and 0.651 for 10.90% moisture content, respectively. In the some moisture content, projected area, volume, 1000 grain mass, bulk density, kernel density, porosity and terminal velocity were measured as 2.79 cm(2), 1210 mm(3), 1349.34 g, 608.17 kg/m(3), 1248 kg/m(3), 51.48%, 4.94 m/s respectively. In addition, the rupture strength values of faba bean grains were varied between 310.83 and 542.38 N. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. In this article, the energy balance of the sugar beet, which has an important place in the agricultural production of Turkey, is calculated for middle Anatolia conditions (Konya region). According to the obtained results, the total energy input, total energy output, output/input ratio, and net energy ratio are found to be 19760.065 MJ/ha, 378491.2 MJ/ha, 19.15, and 18.15, respectively (for 6.9 t/ha yield).Öğe PERFORMANCE OF PNEUMATIC PRECISION SEED DRILL IN BLACK CARROT SOWING(UNIV AGRICULTURE, FAC VETERINARY SCIENCE, 2018) Ornek, Mustafa Nevzat; Seflek, Ali Yavuz; Haciseferogullari, HaydarIn this study, non-pelleted black carrot seeds were planted over the ridges under field conditions. Planting was performed over three narrow spacing rows with a vacuum-type pneumatic single-seed planter. Planter forward speeds were arranged as 0.42, 0.84 and 1.25 m s(-1) and on-row seed spacing was arranged as 2.34, 4.65 and 6.87 cm. Experimental plots were observed during the initial month after planting. Mean germination times, germination rate index, field emergences, on-row plant distribution patterns and number of plants per unit area were evaluated. Variation coefficients indicating the on-row plant regularity were between 62.86 and 86.42%, mean germination rates between 15.98 and 23.07 days, germination rate index values between 0.321 and 1.502 per meter, field emergence rates between 34.26 and 69.70% and number of plants between 37.66 and 70.66 plant m(-2).Öğe Use of Energy and Labour in Apricot Agriculture in Turkey(PERGAMON-ELSEVIER SCIENCE LTD, 2003) Gezer, İbrahim; Acaroğlu, Mustafa; Haciseferogullari, HaydarTurkey is the biggest apricot producer in the world with 538,000 t production per annum and 20.15% market share. Moreover, 83% of the dried apricots in world markets are produced in Turkey. In this research; the energy budget of traditionally applied apricot agriculture-one of the means of subsistence in Malatya region of Turkey-is evaluated. Total yield apricot mass/pit mass ratio and apricot fruit yield with respect to dried substance are found to-be 20, 14/1 and 4.82 t/ha, respectively. Total energy input, total energy output, output/input ratio and net energy ratio are found to be 22341, 75265 MJ/ha, 3.37 and 2.37, respectively. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
