Rehabilitation of maxillectomy case with conventional retained obturator prosthesis: A case report

Maxillary resection performed for removal of thetumor mass, leads to esthetic, phonetic, functionaland important psychological problems for the patient.The primary aim of prosthetic rehabilitation is to closethe maxillary defect and eliminate such problemsby use of different bulb designs. An obturator is atreatment option for the defects after maxillary tumorsurgery. In this article, rehabilitation with hollow bulbobturator prosthesis was explained for a patientsubjected to maxillary resection because of tumormass.

Tümör kitlesini ortadan kaldırmak için yapılan maksilerrezeksiyon hastalar için estetik, fonetik, işlevsel veönemli psikolojik sorunlara yol açar. Protetikrehabilitasyonun öncelikli amacı farklı bulb dizaynlarınıkullanarak maksiller defekti ve buna bağlı bazıproblemleri ortadan kaldırmaktır. Obturatörler,maksiller tümör cerrahisi sonrası oluşan defektler içinbir tedavi yöntemidir. Bu makalede, tümör kitlesinedeniyle maksiller rezeksiyon yapılan bir hastanınhollow bulb obturatör protez ile rehabilitasyonanlatılmaktadır.
