Identification and Quantitative Analysis of Specific Isomers of Polychlorodibenzodioxins in Fly Ash

In this study, a method for the congener-specific analysis of polychlorodibenzodioxins (PCCDs) in fly ash is described. The method involves extraction, column chromatography, and gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric analysis. The essential steps for the determination and quantitative analysis of specific isomers of PCDDs measured at several points inside a modern solid waste incinerator are reported. Techniques for the isolation and concentration of PCDDs from other materials that have the same properties are improved.
