dc.description.abstractThe pupose of this study is to determine Cr(VI) removal efficiency of treated nano-montmorillonite and also to find out the thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of Cr(VI) removal process in batch systems. Adsorption of Cr(VI) ions from aqueous nano-montmorillonite has been systematically investigated as a function of several variables including activation conditions, solid to liquid ratio, pH and temperature. The data obtained from adsorption isotherms at different temperatures were fitted to various adsorption models to calculate thermodynamic quantities. The thermodynamic data indicate that Cr(VI) adsorption onto nano-montmorillonite is entropically driven and characterized by physical adsorption.Sorption capacity was found as approximately 147.05 mg Cr/g under the investigated experimental conditions. It was also determined that adsorption rate was fitted to pseudo-second order kinetics rate and Freundlich isotherm was found the most appropriate isotherm for the adsorption of chromium by nano- montmorillinite.en_US
