Synthesis and Complex Formation of Substituted Amino-P-tolylglyoximes of Unsymmetrical vic-Dioximes

anti-p underbar-Tolylchloroglyoxime (PTCGH2) has been synthesized by chlorination of anti-p underbar-tolylglyoxime. The reaction of PTCGH2 with p underbar-chloroaniline, o underbar-chloroaniline and m underbar-chloroaniline in ethanol between -10-degrees-C and -15-degrees-C gives unsymmetrical vic-dioximes, designated as: p underbar-chloroanilino-p underbar-tolylglyoxime (p underbar-CAPTGH2), o underbar-chloroanilino-p underbar-tolylglyoxime (o underbar-CAPTGH2), m underbar-chloroanilino-p underbar-tolylglyoxime (m underbar-CAPTGH2). The Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of these ligands are proposed to be square-planer, while the Co(II) complexes are proposed to be octahedral with water molecules as axial ligands. Structural assiguments are supported by H-1-NMR, IR and elemental analyses which are here in reported.
