Knidos örnekleri ışığında antik dönemde terapötik sıcak su şişeleri

Türkiye'nin en güneybatı ucunda bulunan Knidos, konumundan dolayı antik dönemde önemli kentlerden birisidir. Akdeniz ve Ege denizinin kesiştiği noktadaki stratejik konumu Knidos'u, bu coğrafya ya hatta daha ötesine seramik ticaretinin yapıldığı, başlıca merkez haline getirmiştir. Antik dünyada, ihtiyaca göre farklı işlevler için üretilen, ikili veya daha fazla kalıp kullanılarak şekillendirilen oinophoros grubu kapların, Knidos atölyeleri tarafından üretilerek, bütün Akdeniz havzasına, Avrupa ülkelerine, Adriyatik deniz kıyılarına ve Karadeniz'e kadar ticaretleri yapılmıştır. Terapötik sıcak su şişeleri, yapım tekniği açısından Oinophoros grubu kaplar içerisinde değerlendirilmektedir. Bu şişelerin Kıbrıs, Yunanistan, Mısır ve Pompeii'de benzer örnekleri bulunmaktadır. Knidos atölyeleri kendilerine has özellikler katarak Knidos'a özgü terapötik sıcak su şişeleri imal etmişlerdir. Tez çalışması kapsamında Knidos'da üretilen 144 adet terapötik sıcak su şişesi, form özelliklerine göre, 7 farklı seramik grubuna ayrılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Kıbrıs'da üretilip, Knidos'a gelen 2 adet terapötik sıcak su şişesi parçası başka çalışmalara kaynak olması için, tez kapsamı içerisine dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmada, elle sıcak su şişelerinin çizimi yapılmış ve dijital verilere dönüştürülmüştür. Devamında kaynaklardan da yararlanarak katalog oluşturulmuştur. Knidos kentinin oinophorosları hakkında, kazı döneminde birebir Knidos kazılarına katılarak ve başka kentlerde bulunan terapötik sıcak su şişeleri hakkında bilgi toplanmıştır. Terapötik sıcak su şişelerinin, kil ve astarları incelenip, sınıflama, tanımlama ve tarihleme yapılmıştır. Knidos'da Augustus döneminden başlayarak, MS. 1. ve 2. yy. boyunca terapötik sıcak su şişeleri üretimi yapılmıştır. MS. 3. yy'dan sonra üretiminin azaldığını görürüz.

Knidos, located at the south westernmost tip of Turkey, was one of the most important cities in antiquity due to its location. Its strategic location at the intersection of the Mediterranean and Aegean seas made Knidos a major centre for the trade of ceramics in this geography and even beyond. In the ancient world, oinophoros group vessels, which were produced for different functions according to the needs and shaped by using two or more moulds, were produced by the workshops of Knidos and traded throughout the Mediterranean basin, European countries, the Adriatic coast and the Black Sea. Therapeutic hot water bottles are evaluated within the Oinophoros group of vessels in terms of construction technique. There are similar examples of these bottles in Cyprus, Greece, Egypt and Pompeii. The workshops of Knidos produced therapeutic hot water bottles unique to Knidos by adding their own specialties. Within the scope of the thesis study, 144 therapeutic hot water bottles produced at Knidos were evaluated by dividing them into 7 different ceramic groups according to their form characteristics. 2 Pieces of therapeutic hot water bottle parts produced in Cyprus and delivered to Knidos have been included in the scope of the dissertation to be a source for other studies. In the study, a drawing of hot water bottles was made by hand and converted into digital data. Subsequently, the catalog was created by taking advantage of the sources. Information was collected about the oinophoros of the city of Knidos by participating in one-on-one excavations of Knidos during the excavation period and about therapeutic hot water bottles found in other cities. Clays and linings of therapeutic hot water bottles were examined, classification, identification and dating were carried out. Therapeutic hot water bottles were produced in Knidos starting from the Augustan period and throughout the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. After the 3rd century AD, we see that their production decreased.
